An archaeologist with Warwickshire County Council’s Archaeology Projects Group called Caroline Rann has just discovered a “Three Lions” badge hidden in a medieval wall 700 years ago, and believes that the unusual find could be an omen that England will win this years World Cup Final.

Caroline said: “I found the badge when I was investigating a medieval stone wall in Parkside, Coventry. The badge was lodged between the sandstone blocks and may have fallen in while it was being built.

“This has been hidden for hundreds of years and for it to appear now has to be a sign that England will go all the way in the World Cup!”

That sounds a bit like wishful thinking, but it is remarkably similar to the badges worn by the England team. It seems this badge was originally used by Henry II (1154-89) and was the English Coat of Arms until 1340.

Perhaps it will be lucky, but she doesn’t show you the picture of Robert Green on the reverse side!
